“It was a great way to get to engage with more people in a relaxed environment and have more dedicated conversations!” STEMM Stroll participant.
STEMM Strolls aim to bring STEMM students and professionals together in regional areas. Local get togethers to find new networks, find mentors, and support groups especially in regional areas where it is hard to do so.
Sharing intersecting diverse experiences from the women in STEMM community through STEMM Strolls provides an opportunity to strengthen the status of women and girls in STEMM. Bringing the community together is a step in the right direction for gender equality.
On October 29, Board Co-Chair Sarah Chapman hosted the STEMM Stroll at James Cook University in Townsville. The event saw 21 attendees engaging in lively discussions while enjoying a leisurely stroll under the warm sun of Townsville, finishing with a refreshing cold drink!
“STEMM Strolls offer an informal, friendly space where participants can walk, talk, and inspire each other, taking one step further toward gender equality in STEMM.”
Sarah Chapman, Women in STEMM Australia Co-Chair.

Women in STEMM Australia acknowledge the Traditional Owners and Custodians of country throughout Australia. We pay our respects to Elders past and present. First Nations people have practised science for over 65,000 years. Our first scientists passed on the lessons of the land, sea and sky, to the future scientists of today through stories, song and dance. They call this caring for Country. If you care for Country, the Country will care for you.
